Orkney Alcohol Counselling and
Advisory Service (OACAS) is pleased to announce that
it has been assessed by COSCA, the professional body
for counselling and psychotherapy in Scotland, as
meeting the standards of the COSCA Recognition
Scheme for Organisations as a Counselling and
Counselling Skills Organisation.
The assessors were very
impressed with the organisations, and felt that it
is a well run, safe, confidential and supportive
organisation. The staff were felt to be welcoming,
approachable and thoroughly professional.
Simon Gordon, the Manager
stated: “This is excellent news. It vindicates our
continuing push to greater professionalism in all
that we do. Our services may be free to the client,
but he or she has every right to expect a service of
the highest standard, monitored by a competent
outside agency. Counselling and psychotherapy is set
to be regulated by H.M. Government from about 2008
and OACAS intends to be at the forefront of
Counselling in Orkney then as now.
